Salvation is not something that any man, woman, or child can earn. It is a gift from God. Now He does not force this gift upon us—that’s just not His way. Instead, He gives us access through our faith. So the question becomes: what is Salvation and why should we want it?
It is important to remember that our lives are not our own. We are not merely living for the glories we can obtain on earth—our purpose is far greater than that. We live now so that we can live again—eternally—in our Father’s Kingdom. And there is only one way we can access this life: by accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Jesus paid the ultimate price to save us from the cost of sin (death). This is good news because it means that no matter your economic status, Jesus loves you and wants to be a part of your life.
Romans 5:8: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 10:9-10, 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Dear Heavenly Father,
I believe that Jesus is Your Son, and that He was crucified, buried and raised from the dead. I realize that I have sinned and need forgiveness, I ask Jesus to come into my life and be my personal Savior. I am willing to change the direction of my life by acknowledging Jesus as my Savior and Lord, and by turning away from my sins. Thank you for giving me forgiveness, eternal life and hope.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
